We had a great week meeting our new Indigenous students that will participate in the ‘Healing Sea Country’ (HSC) Program in Moreton Bay! We are excited to work with our new partners and start meaningful training activities with the new students!

Alongside the Cert II in Marine, we will also offer HSC students a Cert IV in TAE and an Open Water Diving Certification.

These students are the first cohort of the ‘Lost Islands Project’, which aims to train the trainer’ or train members of the local community to be marine trainers.

This project aims to give traditional owners vocational qualifications, empowering them to become regional leaders in marine conservation and restoration education and training in their own Sea Country.

Indigenous communities have deep ecologic and social knowledge, that will be used to build contextualised programs reflecting the stories, ecology and traditional care of Sea Country. ♻️
